Description
Disclaimer: We do NOT ship citrus trees to Alabama, Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Texas, or anywhere outside of the US.
Marumi, Long Fruit, and Meiwa are excellent quality kumquats with very sweet fruit. Long Fruit is likely a seedling of Nagami.
Hong Kong is a different species of kumquat that has very small fruit that are low quality. It is very hardy, and best as an ornamental.
Centennial is likely not a true kumquat, but instead, a mandarinquat, which is a hybrid between a mandarin and a kumquat. Fruit quality is excellent, better than most kumquats.
Nippon is referred to as an orangequat, but it is a mandarinquat. Nippon is a hybrid between the Satsuma mandarin and Meiwa kumquat.
We carry 3 different types of citrangequat: Augusta, Thomasville, and Sinton, which are hybrids between a citrange (orange x trifoliate orange) and kumquat. It is possible that Augusta is not a true citrangequat, but a back-cross between a citrangequat and a kumquat or another citrus. Augusta has very juicy and mildly sweet fruit. Thomasville has very good quality fruit that ripen very late; fruit can be picked early when they are lime-like. Sinton has more colorful fruits that are supposedly similar to a kumquat but more sour.
These plants are recommended for growing outdoors in plant hardiness zones 8-10 or 7-10 for Hong Kong kumquat. To find out your plant hardiness zone, use this link: https://planthardiness.ars.usda.gov/
Rootstocks for 1 quart and 1 gallon plants are: trifoliate orange and Flying Dragon.
