We currently offer 5 varieties of cold hardy citrus seeds for sale:
Yuzu: Yuzu is a likely hybrid between Mandarin and Ichang papeda. The fragrance is pleasantly floral and the taste is similar to a cross between lemon and lime.
Taiwanica Lemon: The Taiwanica Lemon is a sour orange with more pummelo qualities. The taste is similar to a lemon but more complex.
C-57 Citrandarin: The C-57 citrandarin is a hybrid between the Sunki mandarin and trifoliate orange. The fruit are peelable and quality is considered higher than most citrandarins.
Swingle Citrumelo: The Swingle citrumelo is a hybrid between the Duncan grapefruit and trifoliate orange. The fruit are lemon-like in appearance and taste, but lower quality.
Trifoliate Orange: The trifoliate orange is the hardiest of all the citrus and is best used for ornamental purposes and/or juicing since they are very acidic with bitter rinds. Our trifoliate orange seeds are from a Southeastern US strain with average fruit quality but exceptional vigor.
The variety pack includes equal quantities (5, 10, 15) of seeds for all 5 varieties. Seeds should be kept cool and moist until they are sown. Allow at least 2-3 weeks for germination.
These plants are recommended for growing outdoors in plant hardiness zones 7-10 or 5-9 for the trifoliate orange. To find out your plant hardiness zone, use this link: https://planthardiness.ars.usda.gov/
